Syncing problems independent of Pimlical/A

Reading up on various posts on the net regarding syncing problems for
Google Calendar users of Android phones, it is really sounding like the
problems some are having on this forum have nothing to do with
Pimlical/A. This very recent one is particularly good reading:

Stuff like the above is keeping me away from the Android for a while longer.

Thank you for posting the google thread. From the thread:
Every time I have a problem with calendars not syncing on my Android
mobile I follow the following steps. As a matter of fact i do this on
a weekly basis now just so I remember how to do it without searching
forums. Open "Calendar""Menu" button"More""Calendars""Menu" button"Add
Calendars"Make sure all of the calendars you want to sync are ticked.
For some reason android unchecks some calendars occasionally... *shrug*

This is true: the calendars in Pimlical need to be checked (all) and
refreshed, maybe once a day. Otherwise it appears that you've lost
entries and others have duplicated. This has happened on my Droid X, I
have no idea why.

...

I've been using Google Calendar on web and Android for about two years with
very, very few syncing problems. None at all before PimA, and very few with
PimA -- and I don't know whether those few were due to PimA or to
Gcal/Android issues emerging for the first time.

However, I have to say that for reasons I don't quite understand, syncing
seems to be a very difficult problem and all solutions seem to be fragile. I
tried for years to get my Treo to sync with the native Mac apps (principally
iCal and Address Book), and everything I tried -- including paid apps -- was
an utter failure.

In my view, if the issues that Pimlical users experience are reduced to the
level of the issues that I experience, my guess is that we would all be
very, very happy.

It seems that many of the failures people report involve the use of
PimlicalD. But that just might reflect the fact that most PimA users also
use PimD.

I should also mention that despite having very few syncing problems, my use
case is a bit complicated. I import my business calendar from my work
(Google Apps) account to my personal account, where I can view it with my
personal calendar on the web -- and vice versa. My wife also shares out her
calendar, which (on the web) I can see from either my personal or work
account. I view all three calendars on Android, and in PimA. There have been
a few PimA configuration subtleties, not all of which I understand, but no
sync problems that I can think of.

The thread cited in the beginning of this thread consistently pointed to
OS 2.2 as the start of this problem. Now, at the end of that thread,
someone just posted a solution some here might want to try. His post
references the solution being in a different Google Support thread here:

This which involves deleting the ADROID calendar data from the phone and
sync is very likely to fix the problem and several others. Just back up your
PimlicalA calendar first just in case.
