Handy Shopper replacement for Android - Found !

As I mentioned in my previous post, I used to have a Clie NR-70 running PalmOS and lots of very well thought out apps (yes Steve - "apps" from "stores" long before smartphones even existed). The Clie broke and for awhile I just ran Palm Desktop on a Thinkpad.

Now, I have an Android device.

Some suggestions from list members allowed me to move my Memos to NoteEverything, and I found a downloadable utility on the web to correctly transfer Contacts to Google Mail.

I'm awaiting Pimlical for Android having its own database, and meanwhile I am using the somewhat clunky DejaOffice for Android until then.

Replacing Shadow Plan seems the most difficult one, and the closest thing with multiple sub-sub-sub-tasks is mylifeorganized.net which has an Android app which is roughly as rough as Pimlical at the moment. ;)

But probably the app that got the most work on my Palm was HandyShopper a great app that kept getting more and more features without being bloated.

The most excellent feature was having "multiple stores per item" where you could have "light bulbs" and then check off both Walmart and Home Depot, whereas "milk" would have Walmart and GroceryStore, but not Home Depot.

I did web searches, checked many grocery and shopping apps and found none that had this feature and then the last one I checked was:

ToMarket

which not only has the feature, but also has "HandyShopper" meantioned often in the comments/reviews.

There is a limited version for free, and the full version is $3.99 and btw, you can get the latter from Amazon's new app store.

Yes, I like and use the free version but don't shop enough to purchase it. Such a nice program and the developer works hard at it.

Thank you for posting this. It is very interesting to read about the transition from PalmOS to other devices and software.

http://tomarketweb.com has a utility now that will convert your HandyShopper files to their format. Beware that you can have no spaces in your file paths when you do the conversaion, keep everything to simple folders right on your root of C: and you'll have no problems.

I am interested in knowing what program was used online to convert contacts to the Google format.

Take care,

Ann, Samsung Captivate, Serendipity 6.2, P/A 1.0.11

I used this web page:

http://www.dancingdroid.com/?p=4

If you read the whole thing, someone named "John" posts a utility.

Of course, anything you download from the Web should be checked with a virus scanner, and used at your own risk.

I'm just pointing it out for your evaluation.

On the Shadow Plan end, you might want to look at "Outliner" which can
"Sync" (that is import, but you can sync using Dropbox) Bonsai files.
Bosai desktop is pricey, but it has a 30 day free trial, so you can play
with it to figure out if it meets your needs.

There's an ongoing thread about switching from Palm OS to Android here:

Regarding database soft, I heard that HanDBase has an Android version now.
